You may have heard above Shayari about the king of Ajmer-Khwaja Garib Nawaz Moinuddin Chishti (R.A).

Qawwalis of Ajmer Dargah – Every day, after namaaz-e-Isha is offered, “qawwalis” praising Allah are sung by devotional singers inside Ajmer Sharif’s hall that’s called Mehfil-E-Sa.

Big Pots: There is a very large dag (pots) in Ajmer Sharif Dargah for cooking the Niaz during the Urs of  Khwaja Garib Nawaj. This dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz is the fine piece of Mughal architecture.

Urs -E-Khwaja Garib Nawaz – Ajmer Sharif hosts the 6-day annual festival of Urs commemorating the death anniversary of the Sufi saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Many people around the world, visit the dargah during the urs period.

Jannati Darwaza – It’s the Darwaza from which Khwaja Garib Nawaz passes, for attending the Namaz. This Darwaza opened only four times during the year at the time of Urs-e Khwaja Garib Nawaz.

Dargah ritual – 15 minutes before the evening prayers,  the dargah workers place candles inside lamps and recite Persian verses accompanied by rhythmic drumbeats in the background. After the recital of the verses, lamps are placed in four corners of the tomb and lit. This ritual is called roshnee.

Urs-E-Khwaja Garib Nawaaz

Now, I want to talk about Urs-e -Khwaja Garib Nawaz. The Urs -e-Khwaza comes once a year. Lots of people come here during the Urs and visit the Ajmer. Even Chatti Sharif is celebrated once a month in Ajmer. Every street of Ajmer is filled with people during the Urs and Chatti in Ajmer Sharif.

Places to visit in Ajmer Sharif

Ajmer Sharif dargah is a very popular place in the Ajmer. But it’s not the end of Ajmer. Ajmer is also famous for many other places like Adhai-Din ka Jhonpra, Ana Sagar Lake, Savitri temple. Ajmer is very famous for its hills like Taragadh, some Forts and much more.

Nizam Gate:

There is a gate or entrance of dargah called Nizam gate.their are many gates around the Ajmer dargah but the Nizam gate is a very beautiful gate among them. Nizam gate is made in the year 1912. The hight of the Nizam gate is 70 ft. and width is 24 ft.

Akbari Mosque of Ajmer:

It’s a very well known mosque built by Akbar Badshah. This mosque is very famous for its craftsmanship.

Big dag (pots) of Ajmer:

This dag is built by Akbar after winning the war from Chittoudgadh. Tonnes of rice can be made at a time in this dag.

Adhai-Din ka  Jhonpra:

Its sound is like “jopda” but in reality, it is a very big mosque of the Ajmer. It’s has a very interesting tale behind it. It’s believed that the jhonpra structure was built in just two and a half days by the jinns. The mosque is surrounded by 7 arches on which the verse of the Holy Quran have been inscribed. The mosque is an example of  Indo-Islamic architecture.

Savitri temple of Ajmer:

Savitri temple is one of the popular temples of the Ajmer. This temple is known for its craftsmanship.

Taragadh fort:

The Taragadh Fort of Ajmer was built in 1345. It is an outstanding example of Rajasthani architecture. Taragadh was used as an important center of military activity during the Mughal period. The Taragadh fort has six huge gates to enter. The dargah of Miran Saheb located inside the fort. Miran Saheb was a brave warrior and governor of the fort of Ajmer-Taragadh.
